About Me

My name is Cinthya Prevost, and I was born in Cuba. My interest in learning about other cultures began when I migrated to the U.S. with both of my parents. This inspired me to pursue
a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations at Florida International University (FIU), obtain a Certificate in Latin American Studies and National Security Studies. To further strengthen my academic studies I became a part of the FIU Honors College and participated in the IC-CAE Intelligence Fellowship Program. My undergraduate career has been incredible. I have been exposed to an array of different ethnic groups, cultures, and religions which has allowed me to become a more globally aware and engaged citizen.

Global Learning Events

One of my favorite Tuesday Times Roundtable was "Immigration 101: Understanding Recent Changes by the Trump Administration" which was presented by Adonia Simpson. In this event, I learned about the different types of immigrant status, how immigrant courts function, and Trump's administration zero tolerance policy and executive orders in regards to immigration policies. The zero-tolerance policy separated families- children were placed into temporary shelters while their parents were detained. In conclusion, I learned the US immigration system has to be updated to identify the right way to manage family immigration, evaluate asylum claims, and determine who can stay in this country.

Ambassador Haley expressed the Trump's administration goals to expand relations with other Latin American countries in an effort to combat crime, narcotics, and corruption. As well as discuss the changes within administration's policies towards Cuba and Venezuela.
